Legal Facility Visitation Request Guide

ICE Resources

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Attorney Information and Resources page designed to improve the accessibility of legal resources, information and programs of interest available to legal representatives or family members seeking legal resource information on behalf of detained aliens. It also provides answers to frequently asked questions regarding legal representation and information about ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) eFile system. ERO eFile is an online system for the filing of electronic G-28s with ERO and the scheduling of legal visits through ERO eFile’s Detention Facility Appointment Scheduler (DFAS).

Information for Attorneys: Communicating with A Client or Prospective Client
  • In-person: Attorneys may visit clients or prospective clients by scheduling a meeting and will be provided a private, unmonitored legal meeting room, as meeting rooms are available
    • If attorneys arrive without an appointment, private meeting rooms will be provided as they become available.
  • Virtual meetings
    • Email Legal@privacy6.com to schedule a timely, free, confidential, unmonitored, unrecorded meeting.
      • Phones and tablets  (The agency is currently reviewing quotes to buy additional phones for the facility.)  
        • Tablets are available to most detained aliens in ICE facilities for confidential, unmonitored, unrecorded legal meetings via zoom.
        • Phones are available to detainees for free, confidential, unmonitored, unrecorded outgoing legal calls.

Additionally, Attorney-Client Communication Information is posted in English, Spanish, and Haitian-Creole by each detainee telephone, in every housing unit, and in common areas throughout the facility.

ATTORNEY VISITS

Legal visitation is available by appointment and is documented by the facility. Legal visits are provided in a timely, free, confidential manner. All in-person and virtual legal meetings are unmonitored and unrecorded.

Attorneys can schedule an appointment to visit clients and prospective clients in private meeting rooms. If attorneys arrive without an appointment, a private meeting room will be provided as they become available.

Attorney Visitation Hours: Sunday–Saturday: 7:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M. Including Holidays.

LEGAL MAIL  

Legal mail includes correspondence to or from a detainee’s attorney/legal representative, courts, or other authorized legal entities.

Incoming Legal Mail

Incoming legal mail will be handled in accordance with facility procedures to protect confidentiality while maintaining facility safety and security. Legal mail may be inspected for contraband as authorized, and when required, it will be processed under controlled conditions.

Outgoing Legal Mail

Detainees may send legal mail to attorneys, courts, and approved legal agencies. Outgoing legal mail must clearly include the detainee’s name, ICE A-Number, and the facility return address, and must be properly addressed to the legal recipient. Detainees requiring assistance with legal mail submission should submit a detainee request form.
